Magic Links for Memberships

Updated over 6 months ago

What is a Magic link in Memberships?

The magic link feature is designed to provide a convenient login method that eliminates the need for using a traditional username and password. Using the magic link, clients can easily log in and access the specific "products" they have been granted permission to view. This ensures that clients can only access the products they have been authorized to use.

Please be aware that when using the magic link while logged in as your agency admin account, you will see all the available courses for that particular subaccount.

Membership sites are excellent platforms for sharing valuable content with customers or users. However, the login process can sometimes be cumbersome, particularly when individuals need to remember passwords. This is where Membership magic links prove beneficial. These one-click links enable your clients to effortlessly access your courses without the need to recall their usernames or passwords. Whether the link is shared via email or used as a custom menu option, Membership magic links simplify the process of granting course access to those who require it. It is crucial to ensure that the link is only shared with individuals who have been authorized to access your content. If you seek a hassle-free method to provide your customers with access to your courses, utilizing Membership magic links is worth considering.

What are the benefits of Membership Magic Links?

The benefits of Membership Magic Links can be summarized into two main points:

Streamlined login experience: Magic links remove the requirement for users to remember their login credentials, providing a fast and effortless way for them to access your membership site.

Enhanced security and convenience: Magic links offer both security and convenience in granting access to your membership site. These links have a limited validity period and can be accessed from any device, ensuring the protection of your content while improving accessibility for users.

What are some excellent usage cases for Membership Magic Links?

Membership Magic Links can be helpful in a variety of scenarios, including:

Password recovery: If a user forgets their login credentials, you can send them a magic link, bypassing the need for password reset and allowing them to access their account swiftly.

Member invitations: By utilizing magic links, you can send invitations to new members, simplifying the sign-up process and granting them immediate access to your membership site and its content.

Email marketing campaigns: Incorporating magic links into your email marketing campaigns enables users to easily access your membership site and its content directly from their email, enhancing engagement and user experience.

Promotions and sales: Drive special promotions and sales by sending users a magic link that grants them access to discounted content or products, making it convenient for them to take advantage of exclusive offers.

Multi-device compatibility: Magic links offer users the convenience of accessing your membership site from various devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, providing a seamless and flexible user experience.

How to create Magic Links?

To create Magic Links, navigate to the memberships platform. From there, access the Settings.

Next, proceed to Site Details.

If you do not have a Magic link, click the Regenerate Magic Link option.

We offer two types of Magic Links: User Magic Links and Learner Magic Links.

Learner's Magic Link: This type of Magic Link is useful when shared with individual contacts, making it convenient to include in emails or other forms of communication.

User's Magic Link: This type of Magic Link benefits location users. It proves valuable in scenarios where the agency intends to share a course with multiple locations and users are required to take the course. User Magic Links can be utilized as custom menu links in a sidebar, providing easy access for location users.

Using the dynamic field ##{{contact.email}} will generate a magic link specifically for learners, granting them access to regular courses such as "Learn Zumba with Maggie."

On the other hand, utilizing the dynamic field ##{{user.email}} will generate magic links tailored for internal users, allowing them to access internal courses like "Welcome to Your Agency."

Both use cases hold importance, and displaying both fields provides the clearest way to communicate this information to the sub-account.

After your magic link appears in the designated field, click the "Copy" button to copy it to your clipboard.

After obtaining the magic link, navigate to either the email template in your Membership workflow or the email builder membership template.

Paste your magic link in the URL field:

In the "Open link in" dropdown menu, you can select whether you want the magic link to open the memberships portal in the current or new window. Once selected, click the "Save" button to save the changes.

Please be aware that magic links should only be shared with individuals who have consented to access your course material. It's important to note that anyone with the magic link can access your course content. Therefore, exercise caution when distributing magic links and ensure they are only shared with authorized individuals.

Troubleshooting

Can Magic Links have an expiration date?

Yes, Magic Links can expire if you generate a new one. The older links will become invalid once a new link is generated.

Is it necessary for a contact to have access to an offer for a Magic Link to work?

Yes, the Magic Link will only work for contacts granted access to a specific membership offer. If a contact does not have a membership offer assigned to them, the Magic Link will not be functional for them.

During testing, you may encounter a situation where clicking on a magic link displays all courses the contact should not have access to.

It's important to note that this behavior occurs due to the Agency Admin privilege. When an Agency Admin clicks on a magic link, they are automatically logged in as a user with access to all courses. To perform accurate testing, it is recommended to open the magic link in an incognito or private browsing window. This ensures that the testing is conducted from the perspective of a regular user rather than an Agency Admin with elevated privileges.
